April 08 | SUSAN
TAKES TO THE AIR Country singing star Susan McCann continues to broaden her
horizons in all directions. Northern Media Group have announced that from 28th
April Susan's Country Collection radio show, which is currently transmitted from
Five Fm in Newry, will also be transmitted simultaneously across a further three
radio stations in the Northern Media Network. This will mean "The Country Collection"
will be heard in most parts of Northern Ireland and some parts of the Irish Republic.
These stations will include Five FM, Six FM, Seven FM and Q101. Susan's Country
show goes out nightly at 7.00pm Monday to Friday and her warm friendly voice as
a radio presenter continues to grow in popularity. Since putting her headphones
on for the first time, just over a year ago Susan has played the very best in
Irish and American Country music and has interviewed many of her colleagues in
the business - to name but a few Daniel O'Donnell, Crystal Gale, Jimmy Buckley,
Mike Denver and Robert Mizzell. When asked, does this mean you will no longer
be doing live gigs? Susan replied, "Not at all - I most certainly will continue
to work, but maybe not on a regular basis. Towards the end of this year for instance
I will be doing an extensive concert tour of Northern Ireland theatres and I will
continue to do odd gigs around Ireland and the UK. I am really enjoying the challenge
with the radio and newspapers - it's hard to believe that just over a year ago
I could hardly use the remote on the TV, now I sit behind state of the art radio
equipment and chat to people live on air with relative ease". Robert Walshe, Chief
Executive and Programme Director of the Northern Media Group said "we are delighted
to have Susan McCann on board - her voice is like a breath of fresh air to the
airwaves and she continues to develop her skills as a broadcaster and journalist,
in a expanding brand of music, in which she has a great depth of knowledge " | |
